WHO ARE WE

Hi! We’re Boran and Lisa. In 2022 we set out to fulfil a life-long dream and sail around the world. We fell in love with a 49-foot Dufour 500 in Sardinia and decided to make her our new home. Since then, we’ve been working our way around the globe and are currently in the middle of the Pacific. We’ll be exploring the islands here until November, when we need to head to New Zealand to hide out for cyclone season.

OUR BOAT

Na Kika is a Dufour 500 Grand Large built in 2014. She used to be a charter boat so there is definitely a lot of work to do! However, Boran can fix everything in the world so it’s only a matter of time before she’s fully kitted out and functional. With a 14.75 m hull and a beam of 4.8 m, there’s definitely enough space for us and a few friends along the way. We were especially excited to find a layout with eight berths and only two heads.

The name Na Kika refers to a Polynesian octopus deity, who created the pacific islands by lifting them out of the water with his many arms. I (Lisa) am a big fan of octopuses, as they’re incredibly smart and resourceful, but also super playful. Polynesia is also a part of the trip that we are both really looking forward to, so a name that incorporated both was too perfect to pass up.
